What's your method for calculating a tip?
I typically tip 20% of the total after tax. I also round up because I'd rather tip too much than no enough. If the service is just plain bad though, I'll tip exactly 15% and if it's horrible service, even less. It's gotta be pretty bad though. If something happens that's not the servers fault, I still tip them the full 20%.
It's been a really long time since I posted on here! I started doing some design work for Spy Bar Chicago in my spare time and it's been keeping me pretty busy since I don't get much spare time in the first place. Here are some samples of recent jobs I've done for them. Let me know what you think! I'd love to hear feedback/criticism!
Yep, I know I've completely sucked at updating this thing lately. I hate having no time for posting (and going online in general). Anyway, I've been looking for an apartment in the city again. I wanted to move back to the city about 4 months ago and here I am, still stuck in the burbs with winter right around the corner. So my mission for this week: to find some good listings and set up appointments to view apartments this weekend. I gotta get an apartment before winter because moving in the winter is NOT fun.
Last week my boss cracked the whip on internet usage and IM @ work. Now
I hate my job even more than I did before. I commute an hour and a half
(sometimes 2 hours) to work so basically I spend most of my time either
@ work or driving to or from work. So now I hardly have time to be
online. No big deal for some, but for me it is. I've become so used to
having constant internet access that I feel totally out of the loop when
I don't have it. Anyway, that's my rant for the day.
Here I am, sitting at work and counting down the minutes 'till 5 o'clock so I can start my 3-day weekend. I definitely don't feel like doing any work today. My weekend may as well have started at 5 p.m. yesterday. So what are all of you doing for this holiday weekend?
As for me, tonight I'm going to keep it low-key - maybe a movie with my girlfriend or something. Tomorrow is going to be a lonnnnng but fun day. I'm going to a huge electronic music festival (my two musical loves are punk/post-hardcore & electronic) called Purenation. Sunday I plan on drinking lots of beer and partying it up suburban style at Septemberfest in Schaumburg (suburb of Chicago). Monday I'll be BBQing (of course) at my friends house and most likely drinking away the hangover I'll have from the previous two days.
What's your favorite way to keep in touch? Phone, snail mail, email, text message, Vox, _____ ?
Definitely text message. I suck at calling people or returning calls.

Netvibes. Love it! It's an AJAX homepage of all my RSS feeds. I'm totally addicted to it.
The FDA approved over-the-counter sales of "Plan B" aka "The Morning After pill" yesterday. By the end of the year, girls (or guys) 18 or older will be able to buy Plan B from a pharmacist without needing a prescription from a doctor.
"The decision means women will not have to go to a doctor first as long as they can prove they are 18 or older to a pharmacist, who will keep the drugs behind a counter. Younger teenagers will still need a prescription, and the pills will not be sold at gas stations, convenience stores or other outlets that do not have pharmacists."
Of course, this is a highly debated topic and one that I beleive will never have complete support for one side or the other. I, personally, support the FDA's decision. I understand some of the points that the opponents bring up (some opponents' claims are a bit far-fetched though), but restricting access to things like this is not the answer to promoting safer sex (a big argument against this decision is that it will promote unsafe sex).
The FDA made some really shitty decisions in recent years. This decision seems to be well thought out and, for once, a good decision. I say this because the way they've set up the access to this drug has taken precautions without being too restricting. I think it's a good idea to make this available only through a pharmacist, and also only to people 18 or older.
What's your opinion of this decision?
